The character and the costume
Tifa Lockhart is one of the most beloved characters in Final Fantasy VII. In Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, her “Passion Mermaid” outfit brings out a fresh, playful charm that beautifully contrasts with her usual martial artist look.
For my Tifa (Passion Mermaid) cosplay, I set out to recreate this bright and cheerful look with my own touch. I paid close attention to every references and at the same time I made some alterations to enhance the mermaid theme even more, choosing holographic fabrics that shimmer like water and adding extra jewels and embellishments inspired by the sea (instead of flat circles).

Tifa cosplay Tutorial
I made this costume myself for a cosplay convention at the beach️.
I decided to add my own “freestyle” touch by personalizing it with more mermaid-inspired colors instead of the plain white, and layering in extra sea-themed details to make it truly stand out.
I spent a lot of time carefully selecting and crafting every chain, pendant, and connector by hand to capture that shimmering, underwater feel.
Some parts were a bit rushed to meet the deadline, but overall I’m really proud of how this shimmering Passion Mermaid look came together!
