The character and the costume
Tifa Lockhart is one of the most iconic characters in Final Fantasy VII. In the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, her appearance in the “Loveless” or “Rosa” outfit offers a striking contrast to her usual battle-ready look showcasing her graceful side in a long, flowing white dress.
For my Tifa (Rosa) cosplay, I aimed to capture the beauty and sophistication of this outfit with as much accuracy as possible. I studied every in-game angle and lighting variation to recreate the delicate draping of the fabric, and the layered textures that give the dress its ethereal charm. From the soft sheen of the material to the gentle movement of the skirt, every detail was carefully considered to reflect Tifa’s elegance in this scene.

Tifa cosplay Tutorial
Tifa Lockhart’s costume is a blend of various fabrics with different textures, weights, and colors. To achieve an accurate look, I carefully selected materials that matched the in-game textures. I took hundreds of screenshots of the theatre scene for reference!
I created the sewing pattern for the entire dress and accessories, then sewed the full outfit using both a sewing machine and a serger. The most challenging part was the collar, which required precise topstitching on faux leather.
Maintaining the correct proportions was tricky as well, but I managed to preserve the spacing and alignment of the eyelets on the belt—yes, accuracy is my passion and my weapon of choice.
The gold accessories were 3D printed in resin, then finished and painted by me. I developed a custom gold tone with a subtle cool green undertone to harmonize with the dress’s overall color scheme.
